Vor diesem Hintergrund leisten wir mit dem IQ Innovationspreis Mitteldeutschland einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Verbesserung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und des Gründerklimas in der Region“, erklärt Jörn-Heinrich Tobaben, Geschäftsführer der Metropolregion Mitteldeutschland Management GmbH. Bereits seit einem Jahrzehnt biete der IQ-Preis eine einzigartige Plattform für innovative Produkte, Verfahren und Dienstleistungen aus Mitteldeutschland. „Diese große öffentliche Wahrnehmung wird im 11. Wettbewerbsjahr dank des Zusammenschlusses von Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und öffentlicher Hand in der Europäischen Metropolregion Mitteldeutschland weiter zunehmen“, ist sich Jörn-Heinrich Tobaben sicher.

Beim diesjährigen, mit rund 70.000 Euro dotierten Wettbewerb werden marktfähige Innovationen aus den mitteldeutschen Clustern Automotive, Life Sciences, Chemie/Kunststoffe, Energie/Umwelt/Solarwirtschaft und Informationstechnologie gesucht. Bis zum 11. März 2015 können innovative Produkte, Verfahren und Dienstleistungen kostenfrei im Internet unter www.iq-mitteldeutschland.de eingereicht werden.

Der bundesweit ausgeschriebene Preis bindet als Dachmarke die lokalen Innovationspreise der Städte Halle (Saale), Leipzig und Magdeburg ein. Bewerbungen aus diesen Städten haben somit doppelte Gewinnchancen. Darüber hinaus können alle Bewerber aus Thüringen dank der Kooperation mit der Stiftung für Technologie, Innovation und Forschung Thüringen (STIFT) automatisch auch am XVIII. Innovationspreis Thüringen teilnehmen, der im Februar 2015 beginnt. Die Clusterpreise sind mit je 7.500 Euro Bargeld dotiert und werden durch das Engagement der nachfolgenden Sponsoren ermöglicht: Der Clusterpreis Automotive wird vom Automotive Cluster Ostdeutschland (ACOD GmbH) und erstmals auch der Goldbeck GmbH gesponsert. Im Cluster Chemie/Kunststoffe wird der Clusterpreis gemeinschaftlich von der Styron Deutschland GmbH und der Zukunftsstiftung Südraum Leipzig als neuem Sponsor ausgelobt. Die envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG engagiert sich erneut zusammen mit der Siemens AG für Innovationen aus dem Bereich Energie/Umwelt/Solarwirtschaft. Die GISA GmbH vergibt gemeinsam mit der envia TEL GmbH den Clusterpreis Informationstechnologie. Den Clusterpreis Life Sciences stiftet auch in diesem Jahr die Serumwerk Bernburg AG. Der mit 15.000 Euro dotierte Gesamtpreis des IQ-Wettbewerbs wird im 11. Wettbewerbsjahr erneut von den Industrie- und Handelskammern Leipzig, Halle-Dessau und Ostthüringen gestiftet. In der Kategorie Unterstützer engagieren sich die TOTAL Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland GmbH, die Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH und das Cluster Informationstechnologie Mitteldeutschland. Alle Clustergewinner und der Gesamtsieger werden zudem für ein Jahr Mitglied in der Europäischen Metropolregion Mitteldeutschland.

In der Europäischen Metropolregion Mitteldeutschland engagieren sich strukturbestimmende Unternehmen, Städte und Landkreise, Kammern und Verbände sowie Hochschulen und Forschungseinrichtungen aus Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt und Thüringen mit dem gemeinsamen Ziel einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung und Vermarktung der traditionsreichen Wirtschafts-, Wissenschafts- und Kulturregion Mitteldeutschland.
